Stitching Independence: Women Finding Their Voice Through Skill Training

Stitching Independence: Women Finding Their Voice Through Skill Training

Since launching the Women Resource Center Project in 2008, Nitya Foundation has worked to advance the safety, dignity and independence of women and girls in vulnerable communities. As the administrative partner for Mission Convergence, we operate Gender Resource Centers across Delhi that connect women with legal protection, welfare access and skill-building opportunities.

In our training sessions, women learn tailoring, embroidery and other trade skills - but what they gain runs deeper than a craft. Many arrive unsure of their own abilities and leave with the confidence to earn independently, support their families, and make decisions for themselves.

Alongside skill training, our centers uphold legal safeguards under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act, the Domestic Violence Act, and the Delhi Commission for Women Act - because empowerment has to be backed by protection.
