DDU-GKY

Skill Training & Placement Support Under the Government's DDU-GKY Scheme

DDU-GKY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana) is a placement-linked skill development scheme under the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, aimed at rural youth from poor families.

As an implementing partner, Nitya Foundation delivers market-aligned vocational training — from computer literacy to trade-specific skills — that leads directly toward employment, helping break the cycle of rural poverty.

Stitching a New Beginning
1. Stitching a New Beginning

When one young man from a rural household enrolled in our DDU-GKY-linked training program, he had no formal skill to his name and few job prospects in his village. Over several weeks of hands-on training, he learned to operate a sewing machine with confidence, picking up techniques he had never had the chance to practice before. With the program's placement support, he was connected to a local employer soon after completing his course - turning a few weeks of training into his first steady income. His journey reflects exactly what DDU-GKY set out to do: give rural youth a real skill and a real shot at employment.
